iKhokha is a South African fintech and payments platform that enables small businesses and merchants to take online and in-person card payments. Today, it processes over R20 billion in payments annually, reaching more than 200,000 SMEs across the country

iKhokha wanted to offer seamless online payments to their merchants using WooCommerce, one of South Africa’s most widely used ecommerce platforms.

The goal was to create a fast, secure and reliable WooCommerce payment method that aligned with iKhokha’s API and supported real-world ecommerce workflows, including refunds.

Outcome

Creating a new payment method inside WooCommerce, securely sending payment requests to iKhokha, validating the responses and updating WooCommerce orders based on the transaction result.

Using WooCommerce’s native payment and order hooks, I implemented a full payment flow. From initiating a charge to updating the order status within WooCommerce. Ensuring merchants experience a smooth, familiar checkout.

Enabled integrated refunds, allowing store owners to trigger full or partial refunds directly from their WordPress dashboard, with the request synchronizing back to iKhokha’s system

The new plugin enabled iKhokha to offer a fully supported WooCommerce integration, expanding their reach to thousands of online merchants.

Store owners now have a fast and secure way to accept payments, manage orders and issue refunds.
